Domaine de la Butte's Bourgueil Mi-Pente is a 5-hectare plot in the heart of the appellation. The Cabernet Franc vines are among the oldest in the wine estate, over 60 years old. Yields are therefore very low, less than 25 hectolitres per hectare. The vines are managed in the most respectful way possible. Ageing takes place in barrels for 16 months to obtain a wine that already has a certain patina. This wine needs time to blossom, and can be kept for a minimum of 5 years.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: Cuvée Mi-Pente is one of the best-known and highest-quality wines from the Domaine de la Butte. Winemaker Jacky Blot strives to bring out the best in each parcel of his terroir through the work of his vines. This wine impresses me with its concentration and the quality of its tannins. A great wine for laying down, which will take on real dimension if you know how to be patient.

On the nose, this Bourgueil is truly surprising. It reveals notes of licorice, black pepper and a noble vegetal touch typical of Cabernet Franc.

On the palate, it's powerful, full-bodied and very fruity, with a slight animal touch that goes well with game-based dishes.
