Long description
The Domaine de la Butte is located in the Bourgueil terroir. It was in 2002 that this wine estate was taken over by Jacky Blot, already owner of the famous Domaine de la Taille aux Loups. Committed to making wines of excellence with the purest respect for the terroir, he has turned the winemaking codes of Cabernet Franc on their head, revealing its charming side. His sole aim is to obtain the best wine with the purest authenticity.
Jacky Blot draws his inspiration from Burgundian practices to parcel out his cuvées and offer a highly diversified range.
In the vineyard, yields are very limited, ranging from 15hl/ha to 35hl/ha depending on the vintage. The terroir is essentially limestone, with a predominance of tuffeau, a very special soil that is unique of its kind. The vines are an average of 40 years old, and organically grown.
When it comes to winemaking, no corrections are made in the cellar. Jacky Blot wants to preserve the quintessence of the fruit to obtain a great wine. Ageing takes place in wooden or concrete vats, depending on the cuvée.
His flagship cuvées that we have chosen to reference are Pied de la Butte, Haut de la Butte, Perrières and Mi Pente.
