The Quartz cuvée from the Ardoisières wine estate is a pure Altesse whose vines are located on the steep slopes of Cevins at an altitude of almost 500 meters. It's an incredibly deep, intense, mineral wine with extremely low yields (around 20 hectoliters per hectare). The wine is aged in non-new barrels for 18 months, with no sulfur added throughout the winemaking process.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Quartz is a great Savoy white wine produced by the talented Brice Omont. Once you taste this wine, you question what you've tasted before. Quartz combines power, richness, liveliness and length. It's more than worthy of a place in the top 50 greatest white wines produced in France.
On the nose, the bouquet opens with notes of honey and hints of greengage. There's a hint of quince, as well as beautiful notes of wet pebbles. This minerality increases with tasting, giving a sensation of pure, crystalline wine.
On the palate, the attack is full-bodied, rich and generous. The acidity lifts the whole in a very delicate way. It's a wine of mad complexity that's hard to sum up in a few words. The finish is extremely long, with remarkable tension. A great French wine.
