Domaine des Lambrays' Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru is one of those mythical terroirs that only Burgundy can claim. Not only is it Burgundy's most extensive Grand Cru, it is also one of the most prestigious and qualitative terroirs in the world. This quasi-monopoly forms a series of gentle slopes whose diversity of exposure contributes greatly to the complexity of the rare wines produced. The upper part of the climat rests on marly soils, while the lower part blends clay and limestone, providing a natural contrast that the 40-year-old Pinot Noir vines express with depth. Under the aegis of Jacques Devauges, former manager of the famous Clos de Tart, Domaine des Lambrays has embarked on a qualitative shift in recent years, confirming its legendary status. Organic viticulture is combined with meticulous plot management, strictly hand harvesting and exclusively natural fermentations. The Clos des Lambrays is aged in the wine estate's own cellars for 18 months, in oak barrels, half of which are renewed each year. The result is one of the rare and legendary wines of the Côte de Nuits, made to last through the decades.

On the nose, it's a bouquet still in reserve but already full of restrained power that floats above the glass. Black cherry, fresh redcurrant and wild berries form a lively, fruity framework, mingling with the delicacy of rose, violet and peony. A tertiary, empyreumatic dimension emerges as the wine opens, evoking mushroom, undergrowth, blond tobacco and noble spices. The whole is a harmonious olfactory landscape full of promise.
The palate, too, exudes the restrained power of this Grand Cru, with an energy and depth that are only waiting to blossom after a few years in the cellar. The body is as ample as it is voluptuous, structured by silky tannins of great finesse. The sapid length unfolds elegant flavors of red and black fruits, fine spices and undergrowth, and the finish is adorned with a striking mouthfeel that stretches indefinitely.
