Gourt de Mautens Rouge is a wine from the finest terroirs in Rasteau. Jérôme Bressy, the winemaker who produces this great Vaucluse wine, overturns the codes of local viticulture. In particular, he uses grape varieties that are not authorized in the appellation, such as Counoise, Terret Noir and Vaccarèse. He wanted to replant forgotten grape varieties because they are totally adapted to the unique environment of Rasteau's terroirs.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Jérôme Bressy is a winegrower of genius who has challenged the whole logic of appellation wines, and Rasteau in particular. Today, he is considered one of the finest winemakers in the area, producing only white and red wines that perfectly reflect their terroirs. His red wine is powerful, opulent and fleshy, and retains a freshness that only Jérôme Bressy can provide.
On the nose, the wine immediately transports us to the garrigue. There are also notes of incense, raspberry jam, prune and hints of soy sauce and black pepper. An atypical nose, powerful and uniquely concentrated.
Flamboyant on the palate, with notes of ripe raspberries, licorice and dried figs. The texture is particularly silky, leaving a velvety, tactile sensation on the palate. The finish is marked by extraordinary finesse, where the aromatic complexity lingers.
