Wine Description
Petit Chablis from the Jean-Paul and Benoit Droin wine estate comes from a terroir with atypical characteristics, as it lies on a Portlandian soil more commonly known as Barrois limestone. This calcareous rock lies above the Kimmeridgian rock layers at an altitude of almost 200 meters, just above the Chablis Grand Crus. This type of soil makes for great accessibility when young. From the very first years, the wines are highly expressive and aromatic.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: The Jean-Paul and Benoit Droin wine estate is renowned for the quality of its wines, particularly Montée de Tonnerre, Vaillons, Mont de Milieu and Les Clos, whose cuvée was renamed Hommage à Louis in 2020.It also produces superb "Villages" crus, such as Chablis and a stunning Petit Chablis. Its freshness and greediness are very pleasant when young. Unbeatable value for money in this appellation.
On the nose, the wine reveals lovely notes of yellow fruits such as mirabelle plum and Reine Claude. A touch of green apple and verbena are revealed after aeration in a Burgundy glass.
The palate is fresh, pure and very invigorating, in keeping with the wine estate's style. This Petit Chablis is also full-bodied, so it can be enjoyed as an aperitif if you like fresh, gourmet wines.
