Champagne Marguet' s Shaman Grand Cru finely embodies Benoît Marguet 's sensitive vision of a Champagne rooted in its Montagne de Reims terroir, and free from all artifice. On the pure, chalky soils of the Grand Cru parcels in Ambonnay and Bouzy, the wine estate uses biodynamic viticulture, ploughing with horses and uncompromisingly natural treatments to preserve the health of its old vines. Composed mainly of Pinot Noir (84%) with Chardonnay (16%), this Brut Nature white is one of the pillars of the wine estate's identity. The natural approach continues in the cellar: spontaneous fermentation in oak barrels, with no fining or filtration, and minimal use of sulfur. Ageing on the lees lasts around two years before disgorging, with no dosage.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Champagne Marguet 's Shaman Grand Cru is an auteur cuvée, faithful to Benoît Marguet's Brut Nature style. In the Champagne landscape, it stands out for its balance between bright fruit and elegant vertical structure. This is an expressive, vital Grand Cru Champagne with ageing potential.
The bouquet opens with scents of ripe orchard fruit, juicy white-fleshed fruit, and roasted notes reminiscent of hazelnut. The already evolved expression then leads to deeper aromas of sourdough and toast, complemented by a strong mineral note at the end of the nose.
The attack reveals a silky texture carried by a stunningly fine effervescence. The ample body unfurls flavors of roasted apple, combined with a chalky minerality that underlines the structure and gives a tactile dimension to the whole. The finish is intense, deeply mineral, underpinned by refreshing acidity and typical salinity.
