Terrasses du Larzac "Les Combariolles" 2021 Mas Cal Demoura | Languedoc

The cuvée Les Combariolles from the Mas Cal Demoura wine estate is made from a selection of the finest plots of limestone gravel. The blend comprises 35% Syrah, 30% Mourvèdre, 25% Carignan and 10% Grenache. The vines are over 40 years old, and yields are kept to a minimum , at around 21 hectoliters per hectare. This is one of the finest red wines in the area, revealing a vibrant, mineral aspect very typical of this geology.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Les Combariolles is one of the great wines of the Mas Cal Demoura wine estate. It is vinified and matured in the same way as the cuvée Terre de Jonquières, in order to fully respect the identity of the terroir. A generous , powerful wine that takes us right to the heart of the garrigues.

On the nose, the wine is still a little austere, but it feels like a lion in a cage. Notes of black fruit, leather, venison and prune. These only come to the fore after 3 to 4 hours of decanting. On the palate, the wine is dynamic, racy and fleshy. The tannins are still a little hard, but give the wine a juicy, pleasant quality. Notes of ripe black fruit are counterbalanced by lovely acidity. This is what perfectly balances this great Languedoc red wine.
