Pastis de Saint Tropez “Vue du Large” Edition by Pastis 12/12 was inspired by the Saint-Tropez way of life, conceived on the legendary Place des Lices, in that Provençal spirit where pastis is more of a ritual than just a drink. Made entirely from natural botanicals and spices, it centers on three iconic botanicals from the Saint-Tropez peninsula: fig, orange blossom, and almond. What sets this edition apart is its packaging designed by Saint-Tropez-based illustrator Quentin Monge, whose four-sided panorama connects the Citadel to the Lighthouse, with Ponche Beach at its center—the vibrant heart of Saint-Tropez’s artistic life. The flat bottle draws inspiration from 1950s carafes, anchoring this pastis in a refined, retro aesthetic that stays true to the laid-back elegance for which the village is legendary.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: Pastis de Saint-Tropez ’s “Vue du Large” edition of Pastis 12/12 embodies a unique approach to anise-flavored spirits, breaking away from the major pastis producers to assert a local, artisanal, and less-sweet identity. With just 12 grams of sugar per liter—derived solely from the natural sweetness of the botanicals used—it is a remarkably well-balanced pastis, perfect for enjoying as an aperitif or as a gift.
The nose opens with a powerful and generous bouquet, dominated by star anise and licorice—the unmistakable signature of any great pastis. Orange blossom adds a delicate, slightly tart floral touch, while notes of ripe fig and sweet almond envelop the whole with a natural, indulgent sweetness, evoking Provençal markets in the height of summer.
On the palate, the attack is clean and aromatic, driven by the characteristic anise flavor that unfolds with balance. The texture is supple and enveloping, with notes of almond and fig that subtly prolong the tasting experience. The finish is fresh and slightly tart, leaving a remarkably light impression.
