Saint Joseph Rouge from the Bernard Gripa wine estate is a cuvée made from old vines planted on granite slopes. The 45 years of age of the Syrah grapes give this wine a superb expression. When young, this cuvée reveals remarkable suppleness and structure.It's a wine we love to taste for its balance and the uniqueness of its terroir. A terraced, southeast-facing terroir in the commune of Mauves. The vines are grown in a very respectful way, with no inputs.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: The Saint Joseph terroir is one of my favorites in the northern Rhône Valley. It offers interesting accessibility in its youth, as well as very good ageing potential. Bernard Gripa 's Saint Joseph red is very representative of the Saint Joseph terroir, bringing intense expression and rare complexity to the Syrah. This is one of the best value Saint Josephs on the market today.

The nose is as delicate as the terroir. There's a lot of greediness, with notes of ripe fruit such as blackcurrant, black cherry and fig, always present in a very subtle way.

The palate is already very supple, with silky tannins and incomparable juiciness. The spicy notes of the Syrah blend perfectly with the more mineral notes of the granite terroir. An exemplary wine in the Saint Joseph appellation , thanks to the Gripa family.
