Wine Description

Domaine Vincent Pinard's Sancerre Charlouise is considered by connoisseurs to be one of the greatest red Sancerre wines. It rises to the level of very great Burgundies. This wine is aged for 18 months in oak barrels to give it even more breed and complexity. Its terroir, essentially composed of clay and limestone, gives Pinot Noir a beautiful expression. A truly extraordinary wine with an exceptional ageing potential of over 15 years.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: The Charlouise cuvée in red Sancerre is the jewel of the Vincent Pinard wine estate. Clément and Florent Pinard, the estate's current winemakers, have chosen to regulate yields on this cuvée in order to obtain top-quality juice. The vines are over 50 years old and have been organically grown for over 30 years. The grapes for this cuvée have been totally de-stemmed to preserve their finesse even when young.

The nose is very fresh, with notes of tart red fruit, a hint of wood, spices and flowers.

The palate is clean and precise, in the purest style of the wine estate. The substance is caressing. Freshness and substance complement each other perfectly, creating a beautiful harmony. The finish ends on notes of great finesse.
