Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of winemaker Ludovic Archer, an emerging figure in the Savoyard wine world who has made a remarkable professional transition. After an initial career as a mechanical engineer in a company specializing in mountain equipment, Ludovic Archer threw himself passionately into the world of wine.
Trained in a condensed form by Savoyard winemaker Jean-François Quénard, Ludovic Archer decided to fly solo in 2019, taking over with autonomy and determination four parcels located in the picturesque Combe de Savoie, between the charming wine-growing communes of Chignin and Arbin. The wine estate covers an area of 4 hectares, home to no fewer than seven grape varieties, a third of which are Jacquère.
Committed to environmentally-friendly viticulture, Ludovic Archer manages his vines using organic methods, which are certified for the majority of his acreage. Harvesting is carried out by hand in crates, and is preceded by meticulous sorting on the vine.
To best express the richness of his terroirs, Ludovic Archer has installed modern equipment, including a pneumatic press. The whites, aged in a combination of non-new wood and concrete vats, are treated without settling. The reds, often made from whole bunches of grapes, benefit from prolonged maceration and ageing in non-new oak barrels and demi-muids, with minimal use of sulfur.
