Wine Description

Pinot Noir Feston from the Ludovic Archer wine estate is the one and only cuvée made with 100% Pinot Noir from an Alpine terroir. Feston is the name given to the characteristic flight of birds of prey defending their territory. This parcel, planted at the very top of the Saint Jean de la Porte slopes, is ideal for the formation of updrafts sought after by the many paragliders and birds of prey in the area.The Pinot Noir vines are planted at an altitude of 500 meters,facing south-east against the Bauges massif.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Ludovic Archer's Pinot Noir Feston reveals finesse, elegance and complexity. An exceptional terroir for this Pinot Noir located in Saint Jean de la Porte, with yields not exceeding 25 hl/ha. The cuvée is 50% de-stemmed and aged in barrels containing 5 wines, to give just the right silkiness to the tannins without marking the wine by ageing.

On the nose, notes of tangy fruit such as Morello cherry come through with great intensity. There's also plenty of sweet spices, such as cinnamon and nutmeg, and a very noble, slightly vegetal touch.

The palate is supple, with beautifully rounded tannins. The mouth-watering texture is reminiscent of some fine Côte de Beaune reds. A dense, precise, juicy Pinot Noir that thrills me because I find it truly invigorating and extremely elegant.
