Pinot Gris Lerchenberg from the Marc Kreydenweiss wine estate embodies the elegance and depth of Alsace terroir. From the Lerchenberg vineyard, this wine reflects the unique character of a clay-limestone soil, often associated with powerful, structured wines. The biodynamic methods applied by the Kreydenweiss wine estate enable the Pinot Gris of this terroir to express itself fully, highlighting the varietal typicity enhanced by mineral nuances and a beautiful richness on the palate.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Situated on the heights ofAndlau, the Lerchenberg enjoys ideal exposure, favoring slow, even ripening of the grapes. This clay-limestone terroir, with its deep, mineral-rich soils, gives the wine remarkable tension, balancing the roundness and richness characteristic of pinot gris. Marc and Antoine Kreydenweiss work these vines according to biodynamic principles to preserve the vitality of the soil and encourage the purest expression of the terroir.
The nose of Pinot Gris Lerchenberg is highly complex, marked by aromas of ripe fruit such as pear and peach, as well as hazelnut, toasted almond and acacia honey. More spicy and floral touches, reminiscent of chamomile and white tea, enrich the bouquet, adding depth and elegance.
On the palate, this Pinot Gris is beautifully smooth, with an almost silky texture. The balance between richness and freshness is perfect: flavors of yellow fruit and almond mingle with mineral notes, offering a straightforward, persistent finish with a slight salinity reminiscent of the minerality of the soil.
