Domaine Weinbach's Pinot Noir Altenbourg comes from a terroir located just below the FurstentumGrand Cru , between 200 and 300 meters above sea level. This terroir benefits from optimal southern exposure and is composed of soils rich in limestone, marl and sandstone, providing efficient drainage and favoring ideal ripening of the grapes. These geological conditions give the wine an elegant structure and a distinctive minerality.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Winemaking begins with a week-and-a-half of pre-fermentation cold maceration, followed by the same length of classic maceration, initiated by indigenous yeasts. Ageing takes place for 15 months in oak barrels, 30% of which are new, bringing complexity and finesse to the wine without overpowering the fruit.

On the nose, the wine reveals notes of juniper berries, cloves, blackcurrant, eucalyptus and a hint of coriander. A nose that reveals an exceptional terroir, both fresh and complex.

The palate is lively, more tannic than any of the wine estate's other Pinot noir cuvées, and full-bodied. Ripe fruit notes such as plum, blackcurrant and blueberry are enhanced by an original touch of grapefruit, which adds a hint of elegant bitterness.
