Ampeleia Ampeleia Red 2016 | Tuscany

The ampeleia is the great cuvée produced by Elisabetta Foradori. It bears the name of the domain because it represents the quintessence of the expression of the terroirs it possesses. It is also an assembly of the oldest vines of cabernet franc, of sangiovese and four other native grape varieties. This cuvée is exclusively vinified and raised in a cement tank for more than 16 months. Then a second aging of 12 months pre-market.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Ampeleia is a cuvée with exceptional aging capacity and complexity. The grapes come from plots between 200 and 600 meters altitude all worked in biodynamic farming. The expression of fruit is of rare purity and is widely shown in the highest wines of Tuscany.

In the nose, the wine is high aromatic intensity. Oscillating between floral notes of peony, dried roses and fruity notes like pomegranate. I also find a very original "tomate" side.

The mouth is deep with a beautiful volume and silky chew. The spicy and floral notes reveal with precision. A wine of a beautiful size that still requires a little aging, count 3 to 4 years to reach its perfect maturity. But it's hard to resist!
