Domaine Pierre Boisson's Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Beaune is a magnificent bottle little known to the general public. It comes from very old Pinot Noir vines planted on clay-limestone soils. Pierre Boisson is renowned in Burgundy for his rigor, precision and ultra-careful ageing.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Since Bernard's children took up the family torch at Boisson Vadot, the quality of the wines has steadily improved. This Hautes Côtes de Beaune is simply stratospheric, revealing unparalleled complexity and finesse.
On the nose, the wine develops lovely aromas of violet, fresh cherry and blueberry, as well as hints of blackberry jam and fresh coriander.
The palate is full-bodied, with delicate black fruit notes. Overall, a very airy wine with great aromatic subtlety. Its balance and complexity place it at the highest level of the Hautes Côtes de Beaune.
