Wine Description

The Beaujolais Villages from the Antoine Sunier wine estate is pure Gamay fruit. The predominantly granitic, east-facing terroir provides ideal conditions for Gamay Noir vines over 30 years old. Antoine Sunier, a talented winemaker who cut his teeth alongside the great winemakers of Burgundy and Beaujolais, chose to age the wine in concrete vats for around 5 months to keep the juiciness and fruitiness intact. The grapes come from certified organic plots of land in Régnié, and are used in Beaujolais Villages. The deep granite soils and the age of the vines contribute to the exceptional quality of this wine.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: Antoine Sunier is a very talented winemaker with a philosophy that remains low interventionist in the cellar, with a lot of work in the vines. He produces 4,500 bottles of this cuvée, which makes it a rare and exclusive product, even for an entry-level wine. This Beaujolais Villages cuvée is surprisingly explosive. It is at once fresh, fine and delicate. It's everything you'd expect from a Gamay in this range - perfect!

On the nose, notes of gooseberry, raspberry and cranberry reveal themselves with great intensity. There's a hint of lactic acidity due to the carbonic maceration process, bringing greed and comfort.

The palate is lively, taut and full-bodied. There's no lack of tannin - on the contrary, it brings great finesse and precision. The finish ends on a mineral note. A highly digestible wine.
