Wine Description
Morgon from the Antoine Sunier wine estate, an exceptional wine with impressive ageing potential and density. Antoine Sunier favors a natural approach to winemaking. Gravity-fed vatting, indigenous yeasts, no inputs and carbonic maceration in whole-bunch for 10 to 12 days, followed by manual devatting and very gentle horizontal pressing for one day. Ageing is 70% in 8-year-old Burgundy barrels for 7 months on fine lees, with no additives, and 30% in epoxy concrete vats for 7 months on fine lees, providing an authentic, balancedexpression of this exceptional Morgon.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : I'd like to emphasize the exemplary nature of this Morgon, which offers a unique sensory experience. The 65-year-old vines are planted on a predominantly stony terroir, giving the wine a dense structure and a unique expression of terroir. The climate, located at Croix de chèvre - Grand Cras, benefits from a southern exposure and an altitude of 270 meters, favoring optimal ripening of the grapes.
On the nose, deep aromas of ripe black fruit mingle with notes of undergrowth, licorice and black pepper, evoking a walk in the woods on an autumn day. This Morgon perfectly embodies the essence of its terroir, revealing all the finesse and authenticity of the great Beaujolais wines.
On the palate, an explosion of flavors captivates the senses. The velvety texture caresses the palate, revealing a fascinating complexity. Perfectly ripe red and black fruits blend harmoniously with spicy and mineral touches, offering a powerful yet delicate sensation. Lively acidity brings freshness and balance, while silky tannins elegantly structure the entire tasting experience.
