Wine Description

The Saint Joseph Zélée produced by Aurélien Chatagnier is a wine for laying down made from several plots of very old Syrah vines . They are located in the communes of Ardoix, Charnas and Limony. The soils are predominantly granitic, and the vines face South/South/East. All the grapes are vinified and aged in new barrels. This is a wine that really needs it.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Aurélien Chatagnier's Saint Joseph Zélée is a prestige cuvée that reveals complex aromatic expression and extraordinary elegance. Only 2,500 bottles are produced each year, much to the delight of lovers of great Saint Joseph wines.

On the nose, the wine opens with notes of cinnamon, peppermint and eucalyptus, as well as superb notes of ripe black fruit. A nose that already reveals great complexity.

The palate is full-bodied, racy and well-balanced. Notes of black fruit, spices and a touch of wood form a harmonious whole. The tasting continues with notes of tobacco and dark chocolate, giving the wine superb length.
