The Moulin à Vent Les Rouchaux from the Thibault Liger Belair wine estate is one of the most sought-after parcel-based cuvées among lovers of fine Beaujolais wines. The vines are over 65 years old on average, and are planted on deep clay soils that help maintain soil moisture. Winemaking involves 40% whole-bunch harvesting.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: The cuvée Les Rouchaux produced by the Thibault Liger Belair wine estate is one of the finest Moulin à Vent in the appellation. It stands out for the density of its substance and its aromatic depth, placing it among the greatest Beaujolais wines.
On the nose, the wine opens with notes of wild strawberries and raspberry jam. Notes of sweet spices and cedar wood develop with great elegance.
The palate is full-bodied, thanks to the partial whole-bunch winemaking. It's clear that the grapes were harvested at just the right ripeness. The wine easily reveals its racy, juicy, spicy character.
