Maison Bérêche 'sMailly Grand Cru champagne is a fabulous Pinot Noir from the Montagne de Reims. The parcel named Chalois is located on a deep terroir of clay and chalk. Production of this cuvée does not exceed 2,000 bottles, as the vines are old and produce more quality than quantity. Aging on laths lasts up to 4? years, to give the champagne a beautiful patina. According to Vincent Bérêche and Raphaël Bérêche, there's no need to age this champagne any longer, as it already expresses itself perfectly after 54 months in bottle.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Tasting a Grand Cru Champagne is always a great moment, especially when it's produced by winemakers as talented as the Bérêche family. In their quest for ever more authentic champagne, the Bérêche brothers have opted for manual disgorgement for this cuvée. The dosage is very low, just 3 grams per liter, to respect the authenticity of the Mailly terroir .
A 100% Pinot Noir Grand Cru cuvée with a very gourmand and complex facet.
On the nose, notes of roasted hazelnuts, fresh strawberries, pink grapefruit and a hint of flowers are immediately apparent. It's an enchanting nose that combines the greed of the grape variety with the depth of the terroir.
On the palate, the champagne reveals a luscious, almost fleshy texture. The bubbles are incredibly fine and roll under the tongue. It retains this vinosity throughout the tasting, with hints of dried fruit and a touch of acidity that bring balance and length to the palate.
