Volnay 1er Cru En Caillerets is a jewel of the Volnay appellation, renowned for its elegance and depth. From an emblematic parcel, this wine expresses all the finesse and complexity of Burgundy terroirs. Situated on a hillside, the "En Caillerets" parcel faces east, ideally positioned for optimal sunshine. The soil is a complex blend of Argovian limestone marl, enriched by Bathonian clay-limestone scree . These characteristics confer excellent drainage capacity and exceptional mineral richness, amplified by the high gravel content. This unique terroir is carefully cultivated, without pesticides or weedkillers, using traditional organic methods.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : The Pousse d'Or wine estate has done an exceptional job over the last ten years. They have challenged themselves not only in winemaking, but also in their work in the vineyards. Thanks in particular to the switch to biodynamic viticulture, the wine has gained in precision and drinkability in its youth, while retaining remarkable ageing potential. This is haute couture Volnay, one of the finest Volnay wines available today.
On the nose, it offers a complex, refined bouquet blending ripe red fruit aromas of cherry and raspberry with delicate floral notes of violet and peony. Mineral and slightly spicy nuances are added, testifying to the unique character of its terroir.
On the palate, the attack is elegant and silky, with a velvety texture supported by fine, well-integrated tannins. The balance between freshness, intensity and depth is remarkable. The long, persistent finish reveals subtle notes of undergrowth, truffle and sweet spices.
