Wine Description
Every year, the Terrasses du Larzac Arjiès from Clos Constantin is the appellation’s standout cuvée. Composed of 70% floral, peppery, and juicy Syrah, it thrives in Argelliers, on the high-altitude terroirs of the Terrasses du Larzac, which Pierre Halley and Samuel Durand cultivate using organic farming methods. The soils, shaped by two major geological eras—Primary-era schist and sandstone as well as Quaternary-era detrital formations—are protected by large limestone cliffs that form natural barriers. The Mediterranean climate here remains cool due to the distance from the sea, with some of the most pronounced day-night temperature variations in the Languedoc-Roussillon region.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: The Terrasses du Larzac Arjiès from Clos Constantin is a revelation for the entire team every year. This 2024 vintage displays greater depth than the previous one. It is a cuvée that showcases the full potential of Syrah on this high-altitude, cool, and mineral-rich terroir—a world apart from the sun-drenched standards of the Languedoc.
The nose is floral and peppery, with undertones of black olive and violet, true to the cuvée’s aromatic profile. Intense aromas of black fruits and garrigue round out this expressive bouquet.
The palate is juicy, supported by a noble texture and beautiful intensity, yet never overly rich. Elegant, silky tannins underpin the wine, leading to a long, precise finish that remains true to the characteristic freshness of the Terrasses du Larzac terroir.
