Wine Description
The cuvée Argile Rouge from Domaine des Ardoisières naturally takes its place among the estate's flagship wines, a true contemporary incarnation of the character of Savoy red wines. Produced on austere West and South-facing slopes in theIGP Vin des Allobroges, it rests on a soil of schistose marl mixed with clay-limestone scree, conducive to concentration and freshness. The original blend combines 65% Gamay, 25% Mondeuse Noire and 10% Persan, carefully cultivated biodynamically, then hand-harvested and vinified in whole bunches with indigenous yeasts, before ageing for nine months in concrete vats or barrels.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : In the Savoy landscape, Domaine des Ardoisières 'Argile Rouge stands out for its pure, mountainous expression, revealing a freshness characteristic of IGP Vin des Allobroges and a balance between fruitiness and tannic structure. Its chiselled personality makes it a fine introduction to the world of Domaine des Ardoisières wines, while offering ageing potential over several years.
The nose opens with aromas of ripe red fruits, such as strawberry, redcurrant and cherry, which aeration fleshes out with floral and peppery nuances. This finely rustic, limpid yet profound style reflects the freshness of the Alps, the precision of the blend and the purity of the whole.
On tasting, the attack is fresh and invigorating, carried by a precise acidity that energizes the volume of the fruit. The tannins are supple and well-integrated, providing a deliciously juicy, silky texture and immediate pleasure. The fruit is greedy and expressive, underlined by subtle spices and a discreet mineral signature. The finish is full of persistent freshness, leaving a harmonious imprint with a structured structure that suggests great potential for evolution.
