Domaine des Closiers ' cuvée Saumur Champigny Les Coudraies is made from the eponymous plots of Cabernet Franc located on the hillsides of Parnay. The limestone soil lends richness and finesse to the wine.

The grapes are hand-harvested, destemmed and sorted. It then undergoes cold pre-fermentation maceration before fermentation begins. Total maceration time is around 1 month, followed by 6 to 8 months of ageing in vats to refine the Cabernet Franc while retaining the fresh, fruity character of the vat.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Saumur Champigny Les Coudraies is vinified and aged in stainless steel vats, bringing out the fruit and delicacy of the terroirs from which it comes. The Closiers wine estate, and in particular Michel Chevré and Nady Foucault, have done an outstanding job of selecting parcels and blending them. The result is stunning.

On the nose, the wine reveals notes of redcurrant jelly and fresh raspberry. It also reveals hints of spice and a slight smokiness. A nose that expresses delicacy and finesse.

On the palate, the tannins are very present and already very supple. There's a lovely fruity, spicy note, with a slight vegetal but noble touch - no green bell pepper! A superb interpretation of Saumur Champigny.
