Closiers wine estate

Domaine des Closiers is one of the rising stars of the Saumur Champigny appellation, and well on the way to becoming its star wine estate. Indeed, Anatole de la Brosse took over this wine estate in 2019 with the ambition of becoming the benchmark. To achieve this, he has selected the best terroirs and surrounded himself with Nady Foucault of Clos Rougeard and Michel Chevré , formerly of Domaine des Roches Neuves, to reach this level.

A great deal of work has gone into the vines, which are farmed organically and biodynamically. Yields are kept to a strict minimum to extract the full quintessence of the different terroirs. The wines produced by Domaine des Closiers have lived up to our expectations, and are unquestionably among the best in the Saumur Champigny appellation.

In the cellar, the grapes are handled with the utmost gentleness and precision. Our winemaking equipment is state-of-the-art. Sorting table, pneumatic press, Oscillys destemmer, thermoregulated vats. No inputs throughout the winemaking process, except for a homeopathic dose of sulfur at bottling.

The cuvées we are fortunate enough to reference are: Saumur Champigny "l'Expression ", whose vines are located on the limestone hillsides of Parnay, and Saumur Champigny "Les Coudraies", a parcel selection located on the same hillsides as l'Expression. Also two very fine whites, the Saumur l'Allegory , aged in 3 different types of barrel to express its aromas in the finest possible way. And last but not least, the extremely rare Cuvée Libere, a Chardonnay with a tiny yield - a real favorite.
