The Barbera d'Alba Superiore from the E. Pira & Figli is one of the finest Barberas produced in Piedmont. The grapes come from vineyards close to the prestigious Barolo terroirs. They are planted on Elvézian soils that give structure and elegance to the wine. This character is reinforced by 16 months ageing in French oak barrels from two wines.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Barbera is a special grape variety from Piedmont, which very often reveals a rustic, acidic side that doesn't necessarily appeal to everyone. Here, Chiara Boschis gives us a true demonstration of her savoir-faire, offering us one of the most beautiful Barberas ever tasted.
On the nose, the wine expresses itself with great harmony, with notes of black cherry, plum, eucalyptus and magnificent hints of fresh raspberry.
On the palate, the wine is smooth and delicious. Notes of red fruit and pink berries reveal themselves with great elegance. The finish is limpid and long-lasting.
