Wine Description

Gamay de Marin is an ultra-exclusive cuvée (602 bottles produced) made on the Marin terroir by the Les Vignes de Paradis wine estate. This wine was vinified and aged in clay amphora to offer more moderate micro-oxygenation than barrels, and a little more than concrete. A remarkable cuvée that stands out from other Gamays produced in the region. Dominique Lucas has chosen to produce a powerful, spicy, racy Gamay in the spirit of a Mondeuse cuvée. The result is simply sublime. The wine requires patience, ideally to be drunk in 10 years.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : The Gamay de Marin cuvée once again demonstrates the quality of Dominique Lucas' work. This grape variety has adapted perfectly to Savoie 's climatic conditions, with low temperatures for much of the year and high humidity. This Gamay is fleshy, greedy and intense without lacking finesse. It could even be compared to a fine Côte Rôtie when tasted blind.

On the nose, the wine opens with notes of sweet spices, blueberry, black cherry and a touch of black pepper. After decanting for 2 hours, a hint of bacon is revealed. A touch of prune jam and a hint of herbaceousness add freshness.

The palate is magnificent, starting with a full, intense, fleshy texture. The tannins are still a little tight, but will melt with time. We find a multitude of aromas in a world of relatively powerful black fruits and spices. Certainly one of France's greatest Gamays.
