Wine Description
Champagne Marguet 's Champagne Le Parc Ambonnay Grand Cru represents a singular interlude in the world of the estate's parcel-based cuvées. The fruit of a lieu-dit planted exclusively with Chardonnay in the territory of Ambonnay, a village classified as a Grand Cru largely dedicated to Pinot Noir, this one-hectare plot planted in 1982 asserts its singularity. On a deep soil combining sandy loam and chalk, Le Parc delivers a vertical, tapering reading of the terroir in Blanc de Blancs, filled with incomparable minerality. At Benoît Marguet's wine estate, the vines are accompanied rather than directed: biodynamic viticulture relies on horse-drawn ploughing and hand harvesting, while the winemaking of this Grand Cru Brut Nature takes place in oak foudres with long ageing on lees, without filtering or fining.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Le Parc Ambonnay Grand Cru de Champagne Marguet stands out for the brilliance and precision of its expression. A rare white Chardonnay from Ambonnay, this Grand Cru Brut Nature reveals a vertical, lively dimension, carried by elegant salinity. The cuvée imposes an assertive style without excess, tailor-made for lovers of crystalline whites who seek a sincere reading of terroir. It occupies a special place in the landscape of Marguet wine estate cuvées, both pure and radiant.
The nose reveals a precise lemony framework, enhanced by aromas of fresh apple and a floral touch reminiscent of lime blossom. The chalky minerality expresses itself subtly, adding depth to the whole without detracting from the fruit. No excessive ageing here: the expression remains straightforward and legible, faithful to the profile of Chardonnay on limestone soil.
On the palate, the attack is taut, immediately marked by a fine salinity. The subtle, persistent bubbles accompany a slightly creamy texture, where white fruit and citrus fruit weave a slender fabric. The finish, carried by the energy of the limestone terroir, prolongs the wine's balance with a precision that is the hallmark of Champagne Marguet's great cuvées.
