The Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru de Morey-Coffinet occupies one of the noblest terroirs in the Côte de Beaune, backing onto the prestigious crus Le Montrachet and Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet, in the communes of Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet. The small 13-acre parcel lies on very stony clay-limestone soils offering perfect natural drainage and great mineral finesse. The vines, planted in 1997, are farmed organically, with particular attention paid to soil health and entirely manual harvesting. Winemaking is carried out using indigenous yeasts, before ageing for 15 to 17 months in oak barrels, 50% of which are new, to respect the authentic expression of the cru.

Phillipe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Domaine Morey Coffinet 's Bâtard Montrachet Grand Cru embodies the elegance and power of Burgundian Chardonnay . This great white fascinates with its purity and tension, but will unfold the full complexity of its mythical Côte de Beaune terroir with age. Thibault Morey delivers a Bâtard Montrachet Grand Cru of the highest order.

The nose opens with a bright, vibrant palette of ripe pear, candied lemon zest and fresh grapefruit. A summery framework of acacia blossom, hawthorn and lime blossom mingles with unctuous touches of fresh butter and green almond. With aeration, the bouquet gains in complexity, with hints of vanilla, sweet spices and wet stone.

On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and caressing, supported by vibrant acidity and saline minerality. White fruit flavors accompany a citrus bouquet of kumquat, juicy pear and bergamot zest. A signature of the Côte de Beaune Grands Crus and the wine estate's style, this Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru de Morey-Coffinet seduces with its impressive mineral freshness and great sapidity. A top reference for lovers of Burgundy wines that brilliantly combine power and freshness.
