Domaine Morey-Coffinet's Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru Morgeot rouge is an exceptional wine from a prestigious terroir where Pinot Noir expresses all its finesse and depth. This climate, located to the south of the Chassagne-Montrachet appellation, is renowned for its deep clay-limestone soils, which give the wine a beautiful structure and remarkable aromatic complexity. The grapes come from organically and biodynamically farmed vines, certified since 2015. The vineyard's southeasterly exposure ensures optimum sunshine, enabling the berries to ripen evenly, developing a beautiful aromatic intensity while retaining the freshness essential to the wine's balance.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: Winemaking is carried out with great precision to preserve the identity of the terroir. The grapes are partially de-stemmed, favoring fruit expression while preserving a fine tannic structure. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats with indigenous yeasts, and ageing takes place in French oak barrels for around 12 to 14 months, with a measured proportion of new wood (around 25%) so as not to mask the purity of the fruit.

On the nose, the aromatic expression is intense and refined. From the very first whiff, we perceive superb freshness carried by notes of black cherry, juicy raspberry and tart redcurrant. A delicate floral touch, reminiscent of peony and violet, adds great elegance. With aeration, the wine reveals more complex nuances, with notes of sweet spices (white pepper, cinnamon), licorice and undergrowth, testifying to its controlled ageing and Burgundian roots.

On the palate, the attack is both full and precise, marked by a superb freshness that perfectly balances the richness of the fruit. The tannins are silky and well-integrated, offering a velvety, almost caressing tactile sensation. The mid-palate reveals great density, with a luscious aromatic palette of morello cherry, wild blackberry and hints of blackcurrant, underpinned by a discreet but very present minerality, the signature of Morgeot's limestone soil.
