Morey-Coffinet's Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Pucelles is one of Puligny-Montrachet 's most prestigious climats. Les Pucelles, which according to tradition evokes the "young girls" to whom part of the hillside was allotted, sits at the summit alongside the illustrious Combettes and Folatières. This exceptional 1er Cru, an immediate neighbor of the Grands Crus Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet and Bâtard-Montrachet, benefits from an ideal eastern exposure, on stony, filtering soil resting on a particularly well-draining, homogeneous clay-limestone substratum. Situated halfway up the hillside, the plot benefits from deep rooting, favoring the finesse and mineral tension of its wines. The Chardonnay grapes are pruned using the Guyot method, and are grown using certified organic methods, with the soil worked by horse and the grapes harvested by hand. Winemaking is carried out on a parcel-by-parcel basis, followed by ageing for 14 to 16 months in 350-liter oak barrels, 50% of which are new, without filtration to preserve the purity of the terroir. Domaine Morey Coffinet's Les Pucelles cuvée is a benchmark wine for the Côte de Beaune, and Burgundy in general.

A delicate, refined first impression on the nose reveals subtle notes of delicate white flowers, ripe citrus zest and crisp white fruits. Then a dazzling bouquet unfolds with fresh almond, fresh butter and warm stone. In the background, an elegant spicy touch of white pepper and juniper berry underlines the wine's depth.
On the palate, the attack is full-bodied, revealing a silky, caressing texture. Flavors of white fruit and stone fruit blossom voluptuously, supported by chiseled acidity and a vibrant saline framework. Hints of preserved lemon, juicy Williams pear, kumquat and fresh ginger add further sparkle. A mineral, chalky dimension lends refined tension and remarkable length.
