Wine Description
Domaine Monier Perréol 's Saint Joseph Laliefine cuvée is one of the most prestigious expressions of the Saint-Joseph appellation. Produced from vines planted on predominantly clay-limestone granite soils, it benefits from an exceptional terroir on the steep slopes of the Rhône Valley. These poor, well-drained soils, combined with an ideal southeast exposure, enable the grapes to ripen gradually, producing wines that are both powerful and refined. The roots of the vines, deeply rooted in the subsoil, draw minerals that bring a unique richness and complexity to this cuvée.
Cuvée Laliefine is produced from old Syrah vines grown according to biodynamic principles. This absolute respect for vines and terroir is reflected in every stage of winemaking. After meticulous hand harvesting, winemaking is carried out without artificial inputs to preserve the authenticity of the fruit. Ageing takes place in oak barrels for 18 months, allowing the wine to develop its aromas while retaining a balanced freshness and structure.
On the nose, Saint Joseph Laliefine is distinguished by a dazzling aromatic intensity, where ripe black fruits such as blackberry and blueberry mingle with floral touches of violet and iris. Sweet spices, licorice and subtle notes of cocoa and tobacco give the wine a sophisticated, bewitching aromatic palette.
On the palate, the attack is ample and generous, supported by perfectly integrated tannins and an imposing structure. The mineral freshness, a signature of the terroir, elegantly balances the richness of the fruit, offering an exceptionally long finish.
