Wine Description

The Saint-Joseph "Terres d'Encre " from the Georges Vernay wine estate is a cuvée from a 1.5-hectare plot in the commune of Chavanay, in the heart of the Saint-Joseph appellation. The vines, aged around 30 years, are planted in terraces on granitic soils characteristic of the region. Ageing takes place over 12 months in barrels, without the use of new wood, to preserve the purity of the fruit and the expression of the terroir.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: Saint-Joseph "Terres d'Encre" stands out for its ability to combine power and elegance. The influence of the granitic soil gives the wine a unique finesse and elegance, while careful winemaking and ageing allow the Syrah grape's typicity to be fully expressed.

The nose is complex and refined, revealing aromas of ripe black fruits (blackcurrant, blackberry), licorice, sweet spices, red pepper, with hints of chocolate and undergrowth.

The palate is full and round, with a silky texture. Flavors of black fruit and spice continue harmoniously, supported by fine tannins and mineral freshness. The finish is long, marked by spicy notes and subtle granitic minerality.
