Description: Gigondas .26 Rosé 2025 | Gour de Chaulé

The Gigondas .26 Rosé 2025 is a cuvée from Domaine du Gour de Chaulé, a family-owned estate established in Gigondas since 1900. Founded by Eugène Bonfils, it has carried on its winemaking expertise through the generations. Today, Paul Fumoso oversees winemaking alongside Stéphanie Fumoso, the founder’s great-granddaughter. A family legacy that lives on in every vintage.

Terroir and Grape Varieties

Located in the southern Rhône, the Gigondas appellation benefits from a diversity of soils, notably marl-limestone, which contribute to the balance and freshness of its wines. The .26 Rosé 2025 blends three iconic grape varieties of the region: Grenache, which brings fruit and roundness; Mourvèdre, which provides structure; and Cinsault, which adds freshness and aromatic finesse.

Viticulture and Winemaking

Certified organic, Domaine du Gour de Chaulé prioritizes hand-harvesting and meticulous winemaking. For this rosé, Paul Fumoso relies on gentle extraction and native yeasts to preserve the finesse of the aromas. Despite the heat of the 2025 vintage, the wine retains a lovely freshness and a delicate balance.

Gigondas .26 Rosé 2025 | Gour de Chaulé: The Sommelier’s Review

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin

Gigondas rosés are rare, which makes the .26 Rosé 2025 from Domaine du Gour de Chaulé particularly interesting. Paul Fumoso prioritizes finesse and precision, using organic farming methods and a gentle winemaking process. The result: an elegant rosé, far removed from standardized styles, that emphasizes freshness and the expression of the terroir. Serve at around 12°C, without decanting, in fine glasses to fully appreciate its aromas. It can be enjoyed now or cellared for a few years.

The Nose

The nose reveals delicate notes of rose petals, accompanied by ripe raspberry and red currant. Hints of grapefruit and orange zest add a lovely freshness, while floral nuances extend the profile with finesse and lightness.

Palate

On the palate, this rosé captivates with its fresh and precise attack, as well as its silky texture, which is never heavy. Its lovely liveliness lends it an elegant tension that sets it apart from the sunnier rosés of the South. The finish, long and delicately floral, lingers with a hint of bitterness. A balance full of finesse, remarkable for the appellation.

Gigondas: Everything You Need to Know About This Appellation

Located at the foot of the Dentelles de Montmirail, Gigondas is a Southern Rhône appellation renowned for its powerful Grenache-based reds, though it also produces a few lesser-known rosés. Its varied soils and Mediterranean climate shape wines of character, balancing richness and freshness.

The .26 Rosé 2025 from Domaine du Gour de Chaulé offers a unique expression of this terroir. Crafted with finesse, it captivates with its freshness, tension, and delicate mineral notes—a far cry from the sunnier rosés of the Midi.
