Racines Wines ' Wenzlau Single Vineyard Chardonnay Santa Rita Hills comes from an exceptional terroir. Situated atop steep hillsides overlooking the Santa Ynez River, the Wenzlau vineyard is surrounded by prestigious sites such as Rita's Crown, Mount Carmel and Sea Smoke Vineyards, and faces the famous Sanford & Benedict Vineyard. Sorento's sandy-loam soils, combined with the influence of the Pacific, give this Chardonnay a striking minerality and remarkable freshness.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: This Chardonnay from Racines Wines' Wenzlau Family Vineyard is a real revelation. It combines the mineral tension of the great whites of Burgundy with great aromatic complexity, with a California terroir stamp of its own. A wine of exemplary purity, which will appeal to lovers of racy, elegant Chardonnay.

The nose reveals delicate aromas of white flowers, pollen, juicy peach and pear in syrup. Accents of wet chalk indicate the very mineral nature of this wine.

On the palate, we discover a fresh, silky, almost undulating texture, developing flavors of apricot, nectarine and lime blossom. The minerality is well and truly present, carrying tension and a particularly salivating salinity. The finish is all the more long, precise and fresh.
