Les Prémices blanc 2022 Roucas Toumba | Rhône

Prémices from the Roucas Toumba wine estate is a wine from the Vacqueyras terroirs that has been downgraded to vin de pays, as some of the grape varieties used to make the wine are no longer authorized by the appellation. The main grape varieties are marsanne, roussanne and viognier , complemented by clairette, bourboulenc and grenache blanc.

The plots are located on clay-limestone soil covered with rounded pebbles. The grapes are harvested very early in the morning to preserve maximum freshness. The wine is aged on lees in 500-liter barrels for 1 year. Production is extremely limited, with only 3,000 bottles produced each year.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : The Prémices cuvée from the Roucas Toumba wine estate is a "coup de coeur" for its aromatic complexity and depth. It's a white wine that easily rivals such prestigious appellations as Condrieu.

An ideal accompaniment to gourmet dishes such as poultry with morel mushrooms, turbot with beurre blanc sauce.

The nose is rich, intense and greedy. Notes of sesame, quince, a touch of grapefruit and a hint of honey quickly emerge. Quite an opulent nose, without being overpowering.

The palate is a perfect match for the nose. Flavors of toasted cereals are clearly present, complemented by a hint of pastry. The whole is perfectly balanced thanks to the wine's acidity and a superb finish with lovely bitters.
