Wine Description

Domaine Sylvie Esmonin 's Gevrey-Chambertin Villages comes from several parcels ideally located in the Gevrey-Chambertin appellation, Côte de Nuits. These vines benefit from optimal exposure, mostly east and south-east, to ensure even, gradual ripening of the grapes.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: Our wine estate vines, which are on average 60 years old, are planted on clay-limestone soils. This composition gives the grapes remarkable richness and aromatic complexity. Sylvie Esmonin favors traditional winemaking, with a variable proportion of whole-bunch harvesting depending on the vintage. The grapes are fermented in open wooden vats, allowing gentle extraction of tannins and aromas. Ageing takes place in oak barrels of different ages, adapted to each cuvée, to bring complexity and balance to the final wine.

On the nose, aromas of ripe red and black berries, with hints of morello cherry, crushed raspberry, blackberry and blackcurrant. Then, with aeration, the bouquet develops towards deeper, spicier notes: white pepper, cloves and a hint of nutmeg.

On the palate, the wine is rich and energetic, with an elegant tannic structure and good length. Fruit flavors mingle harmoniously with nuances of underbrush and licorice, offering a layered and harmonious taste experience.
