Recognized as the most prestigious climat in the Meursault 1er cru appellation, Les Perrières is characterized by poor, stony limestone soil with an east/south-east exposure. Adjoining Puligny-Montrachet, it shares its racy spirit. Between rich sunshine and preserved freshness, this terroir gives Thierry and Pascale Matrot 's Meursault 1er cru Les Perrières a remarkable balance and a rare verticality.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: This Domaine Matrot version is the embodiment of the mineral archetype of Meursault 1er cru Les Perrières: sharp minerality, crystalline tension, and elegance without artifice. Everything is in place, everything is measured, and yet its sensuality is astounding. A great gastronomic wine, designed to evolve gracefully over 10 to 15 years, for lovers of deep, straightforward, persistent whites.

The nose is fine, straightforward, almost austere at first. It gradually reveals notes of chalk and gunflint, oyster shell, and a hint of vine blossom in the background. After aeration, rounder notes of hazelnut and ripe pear flesh out the finish. The aromas are pure, crystalline, yet remarkably precise.

The palate impresses with its lively purity: a tight attack, carried by chiseled acidity. Aromas of chalk and white flowers are carried by a body of controlled amplitude, without any heaviness. The finish is taut, long and deeply mineral, with an elegant salinity that lingers. This Meursault 1er cru Les Perrières stands out as one of the pinnacles of the Matrot wine estate, in an interpretation of exemplary accuracy, faithful to the identity of this mythical climat.
