Chambertin, just hearing this name evokes the nobility and prestige of an exceptional terroir. This sumptuous land of a complex geological composition where the Pinot noir lives. It is a real miracle of nature that is offered to the Trapet family one beautiful morning of 1919. On that day, it was Arthur Trapet who decided to buy his first plot of Chambertin and would be worthy of it throughout his life. Today, the Trapet family works to ensure that this royal terroir produces increasingly refined and balanced wines.
Philippe Mischler, Sommelier at Mundovin: The Chambertin of the Trapet estate is one of the best wines in the world. It is present in the most prestigious restaurants and among the most pointed cavistes. It is a wine that has a unique density and goes through years without fatigue. When this wine is ripe, i.e. about 10 to 15 years after bottling, it is of mad aromatic complexity and stands as the "king" of the Côte de Nuits. Jean Louis Trapet, the current winemaker, places him as the absolute wine that must have been drunk at least once in his life.
On the nose, we distinguish a multitude of aromatics more elegant than each other. Notes of infusions of plants, acidic fruits, spices, even small smoked touches. All these aromatics are diffused with the greatest nobility, the one that can be expected from a Chambertin.
In the mouth, wine is of rare power for Bourgogne. The tannins are well present, the matter is beautiful. It is felt that the wine is still a little apart and that it needs time to assert itself. The years will allow him to flourish and gain in finesse and purity.
The absolute excellence of Chambertin by Jean-Louis Trapet, reference winemaker.
