Clos Venturi 'sBrama Biancu Gentile is a rare cuvée that brilliantly illustrates the revival of a forgotten grape variety. Biancu Gentile, a rare and ancient Corsican grape variety grown at altitude in the wild Reginu valley, draws its strength from schistose and granite soils shaped by time. Clos Venturi, an independent spin-off from the famous Domaine Vico, reveals a singular character in this white, true to the soul of Corsican native grape varieties. Here, biodynamically-grown vines express themselves without artifice, supported by meticulous winemaking that respects every nuance. Hand-harvesting, followed by pre-fermentation cold maceration, then fermentation in concrete vats with indigenous yeasts, protects the purity of Biancu Gentile's original aromas. As always with Clos Venturi, this low-interventionist approach aims to preserve the varietal's straightforward aromas, while adding an extra texture that elegantly envelops the palate.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Clos Venturi's Brama Biancu Gentile is a welcome rediscovery of this ancient Corsican grape variety. The wine seduces with its natural balance between freshness and roundness, and offers sincere aromatic expression. A cuvée d'auteur, assertive and sincere, which testifies to Biancu Gentile's ability to play in the court of the great Mediterranean whites through the talented hand of Domaine Vico.
On the nose, the wine opens with notes of yellow flowers, wild fennel and tangerine. There's also a hint of honey and curry. The whole is elegant, with a gentle, natural complexity.
On the palate, the attack is greedy, marked by a beautiful amplitude and a certain roundness. The acidity is fine, very well controlled, and pleasantly counterbalanced by fine, structuring bitters. Flavors of ripe yellow fruit, pine nut and nutmeg. The finish is long, with saline accents and a lovely minerality, underlining the controlled maturity of the vintage.
