Long description
Clos des Treilles is a wine estate created by Nicolas Réau, a former professional pianist who became a winemaker after falling in love with the terroirs of Anjou and in particular the Cabernet Franc grape variety. From that moment on, Nicolas Réau's destiny has been to produce natural wines at Le Clos des Treilles in the gentle countryside of Anjou.
Nicolas Réau's destiny began to take shape in 1994, when he took a BTS in viticulture and oenology out of a passion for wine, and studied at Montagne Saint Emilion. He soon decided to return to his homeland to take charge of the Clos des Treilles, where he does all the winemaking. He took over the wine estate in 2002, certifying it as organic and banning the use of inputs in the cellar and pesticides in the vineyard.
Nicolas Réau's aim is now very clear: to produce clean wines that evoke a particular emotion, a feeling of exaltation. Each cuvée is produced with this in mind, and the rigorous standards he has set in the past have produced results that are more than remarkable. This is one of the reasons why the wines are so clean, precise and devoid of any deviation.
Nicolas Réau is a grape tamer. He gets the best out of Cabernet Franc. We discover it in a new light, with floral notes, acidulated fruit, his wines "pinotent" with elegance. His "Enlèvement demandé" cuvée is absolutely gourmet, and the "Pompois" cuvée stands out for its unique aromatic depth.
Chenin is also brilliantly crafted, with the "Attention Chenin Méchant" cuvée and the highly sought-after "Victoire" cuvée.
But to achieve such results, it was necessary to work relentlessly in the vineyard and cellar to extract the best ripeness and aromatic depth from the healthiest grapes. This approach soon led him to opt for long maceration periods, which provide length, aromatic intensity and a perfect balance. A choice that has paid off, making him one of Anjou's finest wine producers.
In conclusion, Nicolas Réau is an artist winemaker who knows how to extract the best from his plots. A rare and precious star who is truly committed to the evolution of wine quality in the Anjou appellation.
