Long description
The Antoine Sanzay wine estate has been shining for several years now. It is considered one of the appellation's leading wine estates, along with its colleagues at Domaine des Roches Neuves and Clos Rougeard. The story began in 1999, when Antoine took over the vineyards from his grandparents, who sold their entire harvest to the cooperative. The vineyards of the Antoine Sanzay wine estate come mainly from the Poyeux and Haye Dampierre terroirs. The young winemaker was soon noticed for the quality of his Saumur Champigny. So he decided to vinify all his grapes himself, a total of 11 hectares.
Antoine Sanzay 's aim is to produce wines in his own image, as respectfully as possible. So it was natural for him to switch from traditional viticulture to organic farming. He also carefully observes the vineyards of other winemakers, in particular his friends at Clos Rougeard, who set the standard for the sector.
He adapts as he goes along to the work required in his vines, while at the same time getting to know them.
Today, he is closer than ever to his vines, striving day after day to bring out the very best in this exceptional terroir . He even says that each wine should be the photo of the year. It's an apt description of the winemaker and his philosophy of artisan winemaking.
