Antoine Sanzay 's Saumur Champigny Les Salles Martins comes from a biodynamically farmed limestone parcel and is aged in 600-liter demi muids. This pure Cabernet Franc wine is very young, being only the second vintage produced since Antoine took over the wine estate in 1999. A wine that marvels at its bewitching perfumes, both fruity and floral.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Cuvée Les Salles Martins Rouge is a new cuvée produced by Antoine Sanzay in search of the best suited to his terroir. Historically, this parcel has always been planted with Chenin, but he quickly recognized the strong potential of Cabernet Franc for part of this terroir. The result is more than satisfactory, which is why Antoine is continuing with this cuvée.
On the nose, the wine opens with beautiful notes of violets and black fruit. There are hints of leather and venison. After decanting for 2 hours, the wine reveals notes of juniper berries and a hint of smoke.
The palate is full-bodied, fleshy and fruity. The tannins are well present, lending breed to this magnificent Saumur Champigny. A cuvée to discover or rediscover without further delay.
