Wine Description

The Saumur Les Salles Martin from the Antoine Sanzay wine estate is a 40-year-old Chenin grown on terroirs composed of tuffeau, a limestone soil typical of Saumur. This cuvée is aged in demi muids, giving it minerality, structure and complexity.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Antoine Sanzay's Les Salles Martin Blanc is the nugget of the moment, produced in very limited numbers. In fact, only 2,500 bottles of this wine are produced, and connoisseurs are snapping it up. It's a wine that reveals an intense, unpretentious expression of fruit. It's thanks to work in the vineyard worthy of the greatest winemakers that the result is at this level.

On the nose, the wine presents lovely notes of yellow fruit, hints of sugared apples and a hint of citron jam. After a fine oxygenation, this Saumur opens up to more floral and spicy spheres.

The palate is full, rich and racy. Acidity counterbalances the lovely maturity of the Chenin, giving it an airy quality. The minerality is subtly dispersed, bringing harmony to the whole.
