Wine Description

Adrien Renoir's Champagne "Le Cépage" is a Blanc de Noirs cuvée made exclusively from Pinot Noir grapes grown on the prestigious terroir of Verzy, classified as a Grand Cru in the Montagne de Reims. This champagne is a tribute to old vines rooted in clay-limestone soils, giving the wine a mineral structure, restrained power and natural elegance that perfectly illustrate the unique character of Pinot Noir from this region.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Vinified with spontaneous fermentation in oak barrels, the "Le Cépage" cuvée benefits from a minimalist approach that respects the purity of fruit and terroir. This philosophy involves prolonged ageing on lees, without clarification or filtration, which enriches the wine's aromatic complexity. After cellaring for at least 24 months, the champagne is blended at a dosage of less than 2 g/L, classifying it as Extra-Brut, which underlines its freshness and intensity.

On the nose, "Le Cépage" reveals delicate floral aromas of apple blossom and honeysuckle, accompanied by subtle toasted and brioche notes. Oak ageing adds nuances of toast, fresh hazelnut and a touch of vanilla, while remaining subtle so as not to overpower the purity of the fruit.

The palate is rich, marked by a lively minerality and depth typical of Verzy's chalky terroir. The Pinot Noir contributes an elegant roundness and enveloping texture, with flavors of crisp red fruits, such as raspberry and redcurrant, blending harmoniously with hints of citrus zest and sweet spices.
