Wine Description
Champagne Les Années d'Adrien Renoir is an exceptional cuvée made from a solera initiated by Adrien's father. This method, rare in Champagne, is based on perpetual blending, where each vintage enriches and complexifies the previous ones. The solera, begun in 2013, is here composed of harvests from 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018, offering a harmonious blend of ripeness and freshness.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : This Blanc de Noirs, made exclusively from Pinot Noir, comes from the Grand Cru terroir of Verzy, located on the Montagne de Reims. Verzy's chalky terroir lends the wine a vibrant minerality and great freshness characteristic of the great champagnes from this region. Winemaking and ageing on lees take place in oak barrels, an approach that magnifies the wine's aromatic complexity and texture. An Extra-Brut dosage of 1.6 g/L highlights the authenticity and purity of the terroir, without masking its typicity.
On the nose, "Les Années" seduces with a complex, bewitching aromatic palette. Notes of ripe fruit, such as pear and mirabelle plum, intertwine with more evolved hints of dried fruit, hazelnut and toast. A fine floral touch and chalky accents evoke the Verzy soil.
On the palate, the cuvée offers a lively, precise attack, followed by a generous, silky texture. Flavors of yellow fruit, candied citrus and honey harmonize with saline freshness and marked minerality. The complexity brought by the solera is reflected in subtle hints of brioche and caramel, evidence of ageing in wood and time spent on the lees. The finish is long and elegant, with remarkable tension and vivacity.
