The Mâcon Cruzille du Clos des Avoueries Pierres Rouges Château de Messey comes from a parcel that combines two terroir units. The upper part is composed of red clay situated on a limestone slab, and the lower part of a very thin layer of clay. The entire winemaking process lasts 7 months, with no sulfur added. Only a homeopathic dose is added at bottling.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Château de Messey's cuvée Pierres Rouges is a gastronomic wine in its purest form, revealing a sunnier, more charming personality than the château's other wines. A Chardonnay of the highest class.

On the nose, the wine reveals aromas of orchard fruits, including william's pear, vine peach and mirabelle plum. Grilled and slightly smoky notes appear later on, adding to the olfactory diversity.

The palate is fresh and delicately woody. The smoky, fruity notes on the nose are complemented by the superb minerality typical of Clos des Avoueries. The finish lingers long on mineral notes and pretty touches of bitterness.
