The Terrasses du Larzac Euziéra du Clos Constantin owes its name to the Occitan language: it refers to the holm oak forest that still borders the Clos Constantin vineyards today. The wine estate, founded in 2017 in Argelliers by Pierre Halley and Samuel Durand, is a tribute to Constantin, Pierre’s great-grandfather. Classified as an AOC Terrasses du Larzac, this cuvée blends Grenache, Syrah, and Carignan from the Font-Belette vineyard, where quartz and sandy soils meet clay-limestone soils. This cool, sheltered terroir lies at the crossroads of the influences of Pic Saint-Loup and the Hérault. The grapes are harvested by hand, using indigenous yeasts, and the Carignan undergoes carbonic maceration to preserve its freshness, followed by ageing in concrete tanks that respect the purity of the fruit.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: The Terrasses du Larzac Euziéra from Clos Constantin is the cuvée that best embodies this unrestrained southern generosity, while maintaining a balance between power and elegance that surprises with every tasting.
On the nose, the bouquet opens with fresh, minty notes, where licorice and violet intertwine, carried by ripe black and red fruits. Beautiful, sweet spices then enrich the bouquet, adding even more complexity.
On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, supported by a tannic structure of great finesse. It brilliantly achieves a balance between aromatic power, concentration, and approachability.
